FoundRE is a South African property intelligence platform. We map property information for every property in the country — making it easily accessible and easy to use.
Every property in South Africa is already documented. It is surveyed, valued by a municipality, zoned by a planning department and transferred through the Deeds Office. The record is public in principle and awkward in practice — spread across dozens of systems, priced per lookup, and delivered without the context that would make it useful.
The result is that decisions worth millions get made on partial information. A seller accepts an offer without knowing what comparable homes actually transferred for. A buyer discovers a zoning restriction after signing. An agent pays a monthly fee for a tool that answers one question at a time.
FoundRE brings those records together, reconciles them against each other, and puts them on a map at a price that does not punish curiosity.
Four rules that shape what we build and how every figure in it is presented.
Every figure names the register, roll or survey it came from and the date it was captured. Nothing is presented as simply "our data".
Searching a property is free and needs no account. Per-lookup pricing discourages the checking that leads to good decisions, so ours is built so you can look as often as you need to.
The record is assembled for you. Boundaries, values, zoning and history sit in one place, without a town planning enquiry, a Deeds Office visit or three separate subscriptions.
Figures are reconciled against the registers they come from, not rounded into something tidier. An estimate is labelled an estimate, with its range, and where a record is missing we say so rather than filling the gap.
FoundRE combines national cadastral survey data, municipal valuation rolls, planning and zoning records, deeds transactions and multi-source building footprints. Some of it is open government data; some is licensed from commercial providers. All of it is attributed in the platform.
Our own contribution is the reconciliation layer — matching a single property across sources that use different identifiers, different boundaries and different capture dates, then keeping a record of what each one said.
South African property records contain personal information, and the Protection of Personal Information Act governs how it may be used. FoundRE does not sell personal contact details, and does not treat owner information as a product.
Property owners can ask us to restrict the personal information shown against a property they own. That request is free, and we act on it.
FoundRE's valuations are automated estimates produced from recorded data. They are not sworn valuations, and nothing in the platform is financial, legal or investment advice. For a formal valuation or a transaction decision, use a registered professional — the platform will tell you when that is what you need.
